Dr. Stone Anime’s Grand Finale Announces Fourth and Last Season: ‘Dr. Stone: Science Future

On December 21, 2023, the 22nd and final episode of the third season of the popular anime “Dr. Stone: New World” revealed exciting news for fans worldwide. The series will be returning for a fourth and ultimate season titled “Dr. Stone: Science Future.” A teaser video for the upcoming season was streamed on the anime’s official Twitter account, building anticipation among the dedicated fanbase.

The first cour of “Dr. Stone: New World” premiered in Japan on April 6, concluding with its 11th episode. Crunchyroll facilitated the simultaneous streaming of the anime in Japan and provided an English dub for international audiences. The series also joined Toonami’s lineup on June 3, expanding its reach to a broader audience.

Continuing its momentum, the second cour of the anime debuted in Japan on October 12. As part of the global premiere strategy, Crunchyroll showcased the U.S. premiere at the New York Comic Con on the same date, solidifying its international appeal.

The journey of “Dr. Stone” began with its initial television anime season in July 2019. Crunchyroll took the lead in streaming the first season as it aired in Japan, complemented by Funimation’s English dub. Toonami welcomed the anime into its programming block in August 2019, further extending its accessibility.

The second season, titled “Dr. Stone: Stone Wars,” premiered in January 2021, captivating fans with its narrative. Crunchyroll continued its global streaming service, excluding Asia, while Funimation provided an English dub. Toonami added the second season to its lineup in May 2021, enhancing the anime’s presence.

Adding to the excitement, a one-hour anime special titled “Dr. Stone: Ryusui” graced screens in July 2022, further expanding the lore of the series.

The creative minds behind “Dr. Stone,” Boichi (known for “Sun-Ken Rock”) and Riichirou Inagaki (renowned for “Eyeshield 21”), began the manga’s serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2017. The 26-volume manga concluded its remarkable journey in March 2022. Viz Media played a pivotal role in publishing the manga digitally and in print, while MANGA Plus contributed to the digital English release.

As fans eagerly await the fourth and final season, “Dr. Stone: Science Future,” the announcement marks the culmination of an epic saga that has captivated audiences with its unique blend of science, adventure, and the indomitable spirit of humanity.
