Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun: Kalego Spinoff Manga to be concluded on January 18

The sixth issue of Akita Publishing’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine has confirmed that Osamu Nishi’s Kalego spinoff manga of “Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun” will conclude with its epilogue in the upcoming seventh issue on January 18. The five-chapter spinoff, titled “Mairimashita! Iruma-kun: Kalego Gaiden (Kalego Side Story),” explores Kalego’s experiences as a student at the demon school.

The story revolves around a young Kalego who, after overhearing a powerless Opera, embarks on an investigation into the demon school’s public order of evil. The spinoff, which began serialization on December 7, offers insights into Kalego’s character and his time at the school.

Notably, this isn’t Nishi’s first exploration of Kalego’s character, as a two-chapter Kalego Gaiden spinoff was previously released in 2020. Additionally, “Mairimashita! Iruma-kun if Episode of Mafia,” another spinoff by hiroja, made its debut in Akita Shoten’s Bessatsu Shōnen Champion magazine on September 12.

Osamu Nishi originally launched the “Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun” manga in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in March 2017. The series follows Iruma, a kind-hearted 14-year-old boy whose parents sell him to demons for their own gain. Despite the unusual circumstances, Iruma finds himself doted upon by the demon who purchases him, leading to his enrollment in demon school.

The success of the manga resulted in an anime adaptation that premiered in October 2019. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan, offering both subbed and dubbed versions. The anime’s second season aired in April 2021, with the third season following in October 2022. Crunchyroll continued to stream the series and provided an English dub for fans.
